William J. "Bill" Burns
Prior to creating Kinsale Maritime Services LLC, Bill was Director of Business Development for Inchcape Shipping Services in Houston, Texas.
Over Bill's career, he held executive management positions at various internationally recognized trading organizations including, Norsk Hydro (Yara), Transammonia, Kinder Morgan, International Raw Materials, IBE Trade Corp and Coastal Cargo.
Bill, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation / International Business from the State University of New York, Maritime College at Fort Schuyler. While attending Maritime, Bill also obtained his United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine License as a Third Mate Officer of Steam or Motor Vessels of any Gross Tonnage upon any ocean of the world.
Upon graduation, Bill commenced his sea career with Mobil Oil Corp.
Upon completion of his sailing career, Bill entered into the Vessel Chartering Industry where he spent the next 20 + years fine-tuning his skill chartering vessels on behalf of many internationally recognized trading firms paying particular attention to the dry bulk, project cargo and petrochemical sectors.
While chartering vessels, Bill entered into commodity trading where he specialized in the trading of Fertilizers, Coal and Iron Ore.
Some of Bill's highlights include:
Project Manager for the construction of a fertilizer plant in Murmansk, Russia (300 miles North of the Arctic Circle).
Imported the first cargo of UAN Solution (Urea Ammonium Nitrate Solution) produced in the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany) imported into the United States and the first cargo of UAN Solution exported from Varna West, Bulgaria into the United States.
Exported the first cargo of "Sized Coal" from the United States into Turkey.
Established a vessel bunkering operation off the coast of Djibouti, Djibouti (the African Horn) to replenish vessels with fuel transitting the Suez Canal.
